'These are not toys' Scots cop in stern warning to parents thinking of buying e-scooters at Christmas

Parents of Scottish children and teenagers are being warned off of buying them e-scooters for Christmas by one of Scotland's top transport cops.

Superintendent Simon Bradshaw, deputy head of Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit, says the battery-powered ride-ons are not "toys".

He has warned that anyone riding a privately owned e-scooter in any public place in the UK - including roads, pavements, parks, town centres and promenades - opens themselves up to prosecution.
