Social gatherings with up to six people from any number of different households, or larger groups of people from just two households, are now allowed to take place outdoors.

People will be allowed to gather in parks and other public outdoor spaces, as well in private gardens - but will still need to socially distance from people that are not part of their own household.

The new rules have led to some confusion over what is and is not allowed - as people are still banned from mixing indoors under the current lockdown.
