Wigan and Leigh will reopen to shoppers from next week.Traders at both market halls will be able to return from Monday, June 15 as part of a phased reopening.It is hoped all stallholders will eventually return by July 4.The announcement comes a week after Wigan’s outdoor market reopened to the public.As traders prepare to reopen, a host of measures are being put in place to maintain social distancing, including floor markers, hand sanitising facilities and extra security and staff to ensure customer flow.Coun David Molyneux, the leader of Wigan Council, said: “Reopening our market halls is a positive step forward in the recovery of our local economy amid the coronavirus pandemic and we have been in contact with our traders over recent weeks.
