Hulu has removed an episode of The Golden Girls that contained a scene with characters in blackface. The episode that was removed was “Mixed Feelings,” which was episode 23 in the third season of the hit sitcom that aired in 1988.

In the episode, Michael (Scott Jacoby), the son of Dorothy (Bea Arthur), plans to marry a much older black woman, Lorraine (Rosalind Cash).

Dorothy is critical of their age difference, while Lorraine’s family disapproves of their daughter marrying a white man. Lorraine’s family arrives just as Rose (Betty White) and Blanche (Rue McClanahan) are trying out new mud face treatments.
