Syracuse, N.Y. resident Angel Fikes made 200 bracelets to bring to the movie, which she saw in New Orleans on her birthday the night before it came out — after Swift released some preview showings on Thursday nationwide, which raked in $2.8 million.“I started once she announced that she was doing the movie, making them every night, some nights 20 plus,” said Fikes, 37. “They’re all different song lyric quotes from her.”The popcorn buckets and cups that come with refreshment purchases and the mini posters given out for free by AMC Theatres are already being peddled for hundreds.
Memphis, T.N. resident Sara Barton thinks those sales dupe fans of the “Shake it Off” singer — whose Eras tour is predicted to make her $4.1 billion.“It think it’s totally unfair,” Barton, 31, said. “I think there a lot of people who went in there and bought tons of them and then are reselling them for crazy amounts of money and some take advantage of the Taylor Swift market that way.”In an unprecedented move, Swift struck an agreement with AMC Theatres and Cinemark Theatres for distribution of the film after her negotiations with film studios failed.
