Students fined by University of Manchester for gathering at Platt Fields Park

Hundreds of people were photographed sitting closely together on the hill at the Fallowfield park, reportedly drinking alcohol and socialising in the sunshine on February 27.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) later issued a warning that fines would be handed out to those who break the rules. At the time lockdown rules permitted only outdoor mixing within households, or with one other person for the purposes of exercise.
