Universities across the country have had an influx of applications this year with more students wanting experience life at university.
But with an increased number of applicants and a shortage of accommodation, the student rental market is now experiencing a crisis.
First-year students at the region's biggest institutions such as the University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Salford are currently struggling to find homes and flats to live in during the next academic year due to a lack of supply and increased demand.
Estate agents Savills recently branded the student rental market a 'perfect storm' after it revealed that the number of properties available for students to rent in Manchester is down 10 per cent on the normal amount for this time of year prior to the pandemic.
