Storm Dudley: Watch as rail workers carry out repairs to damaged overhead lines near Kilwinning

Battered overhead power lines torn down by trees during Storm Dudley have been repaired by rail workers. The overhead lines near Kilwinning collapsed as 90mph winds hit Ayrshire – wreaking havoc on morning services between the North Ayrshire town and Largs and Ardrossan.However, fast-acting Network Rail crews have managed to repair the damaged line after arriving at the scene in the early hours.Incredible footage has captured the amazing progress after teams worked “extremely hard” to remove the tree and repair the gantry.Repairs to the damaged gantry between Kilwinning and Largs/Ardrossan are now complete.

There's a signal fault in the same area which we're working on. Once that's fixed and the rest of the route has been inspected, it'll be available for trains to run.Well done team!
