South of Scotland Enterprise holds first official meeting of new board

A milestone has been reached for the economic and community development agency working with residents and businesses to grow Dumfries and Galloway’s economy by providing investment, expertise and mentoring.The new South of Scotland Enterprise board has now held its first official meeting featuring all the movers and shakers set to take the region forward after years of the Covid-19 pandemic.As well as welcoming aboard fresh faces Viv Cockburn, Emma Guy, Kirsten Hannay and Paul Winstanley – who have the roles for up to four years, the new board includes existing members – Professor Russel Griggs who is chairman, chief executive Jane Morrison-Ross, Alistair Cameron, Professor Sara Carter, Helen Forsyth, Duncan McConchie, Lindsay McDowall and Jeremy Sainsbury.At the meeting the board members were joined by a number of SOSE colleagues – part of a growing workforce of more than 100 – who provided them with updates on the variety of projects and initiatives it is leading on to drive change in Dumfries and Galloway and in The Borders.Sanquhar’s Professor Russel Griggs, who is chairman of SOSE, said that each new member brings significant skills and experience to complement those of the existing board members.Their appointments will assist SOSE’s work with people, businesses and communities across the South to establish the region as the centre of opportunity, innovation and growth.He said: “We were delighted to be able to meet all together for the first time as a new board this month.
