Sinéad O’Connor has been awarded a slot in TIME magazine’s list of the most influential women of the past 100 years. The 53-year-old singer was placed as the most influential woman of 1992 for her controversial criticism of the Catholic Church on live TV, where she ripped up a photograph of then-Pope John Paul II while on Saturday Night Live.

Sinéad expressed her gratitude about being included on the list on Twitter. Truly honoured and delighted to have been included in Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential women of the last 100 years.
