Two Scots schoolboys have been charged after two new build homes were torched - causing half a million pounds worth of damage.
We told how two unoccupied homes at a new housing estate in Brookfield, Johnstone, Renfrewshire were set alight on Friday. Emergency crews were called to Merchison Oval just before 7pm after receiving frantic calls from residents.
The two-story, detached properties were both still under construction before going up in flames. Firefighters battled the double blaze for around four hours, till 11.10pm Nobody was injured however police confirmed that approximately £500,000 worth of damage was caused.Two boys, aged 13 and 14, have been charged in connection with wilful fire raising.Both will be reported to the Children's Reporter.Renfrewshire Police Division released an official update on Sunday afternoon.It read: "Two boys, aged 13 and 14, have been charged in connection with wilful fire raising at two properties in Brookfield, Johnstone. "The incident happened around 7.20pm on Friday, May 6 at Merchiston Oval. "They will be reported to the Children’s Reporter."
