Scots beauty spots trashed as over 20 people charged on first weekend after lockdown lifted

Loch Lomond. The widespread environmental damage took place over the first weekend after travel restrictions were lifted in Scotland.Despite the wet weather, campers left significant amounts of litter, including large items of camping equipment such as chairs and sleeping bags, broken glass and full bin bags of rubbish.Irreparable fire damage was also caused to trees and the ground in a number of locations across the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.At one site 19 bags of litter were gathered up while a further ten had to be collected from another.At a separate site a tree was so badly damaged by fire it may need to be felled.This happened in spite of national guidance asking people not to go camping until the 15 July.21.
