Robbie Fowler receives major support for Aberdeen job as Liverpool icon’s hunger is hammered home

Aberdeen hotseat. Fowler unexpectedly threw his hat into the ring yesterday when he recorded a podcast that was effectively a very public ‘come and get me’ plea to Pittodrie chairman Dave Cormack.

Stephen Glass remains the red hot favourite to replace Derek McInnes having already offered Celtic skipper Scott Brown a player/coach position on his backroom team.

But, while former Liverpool legend Fowler will be regarded as a long shot, McDonald is adamant the 48-year-old’s interest in the job should be viewed as a great deal more than just a publicity stunt.

Fowler is currently in charge of Indian outfit East Bengal but McDonald - who has kept in close contact with the Scouser - believes he is now ready to land a job back in the UK.
