Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he felt it was "inevitable" that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be sacked, insisting he is "not surprised" following Saturday's defeat to Watford.
United moved to sack Solskjaer on Sunday morning following the 4-1 hammering at Vicarage Road, meaning they are now on the hunt for a fifth permanent manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired just over eight years ago.
Michael Carrick has been placed in temporary charge until United appoint an interim manager that takes them up until the end of the season.
