Retired Gatehouse of Fleet nurse raises more than £1,000 for care home with garden bike ride

A retired nurse from Gatehouse got on her bike to raise cash for a local care home.But Margaret Carruthers didn’t head off into the Stewartry countryside as she completed the 50-mile challenge on an exercise bike in her garden.Her Gatehouse Big Bike In was held to support the team at Fleet Valley Care Home and she smashed her £1,000 fundraising target.Manager, Sheila Kelly, said: “It went incredibly well and she raised more than £1,000 which is fantastic.“We are very grateful that Margaret is thinking of us and making donations to us.
