Residents have been warned not to hand over cash to people claiming to be 'volunteering' to get shopping for them. Police have urged residents not to part with cash on the doorstep, giving it to someone they do not know or do not trust.
Officers say there will be well-meaning citizens who just want to help, but there will also be those 'with no moral scruples' looking to con people out of their money.
Police in Bury issued this warning on Facebook: "Do not hand over cash on your doorstep to someone you do not know or trust who is 'volunteering' to get shopping for you.
