From the outside it's rather unusual pyramid shaped roof was the only giveaway. Otherwise it appeared like a fairly standard 1980s council building.
But inside lay an indoor oasis that became renowned across east Manchester and beyond. It was the place every kid wanted to go and where scores of memories were made.
For although its name made it sound like a Victorian bathhouse, Gorton Tub was not just any ordinary suburban swimming pool, it was essentially Manchester's own inner-city water park.
Opening to much fanfare in January 1988, thousands of kids, of which I was one, spent hours of fun in its chlorinated water before heading for a Slush Puppie and a chocolate bar, or if you were lucky, a burger and chips afterwards.
