Vets worked to try and save several puppies which were reportedly found stuffed in binbags and dumped. Eight puppies, including spaniels and Shih Tzu crossbreeds, were reportedly found in two separate binbags on Thursday, February 17 by a passer-by.
One of the bags already contained four dead Spaniel pups, the Liverpool Echo reports. In one of the bags, four Spaniel puppies were already dead and it is unclear whether they had suffocated inside or had already died. READ MORE: Two arrested as detectives crack down on 'busy' drugs line in east Manchester Ark Angels rescue centre in Bradley, on the Wrexham-Chester border, took in the four surviving six-week-old puppies - three Shih Tzu and one Spaniel - which were named Rose, Candy, Cupid and Teddy.
All four of the puppies tested positive for the highly contagious parvovirus and can cause severe vomiting and diarrhoea in dogs, as well as reduced appetite and low energy, and can be fatal.
It is understood the incident was reported to Cheshire Police and the RSPCA. Despite intensive, round the clock care from Ark Angels and vets, three of the puppies - Rose, Candy and Cupid - died.
