This week's Premier League meeting has been branded a 'disaster' after fresh discussions to discuss the season's possible restart next month.

The MEN understands Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta, West Ham skipper Mark Noble, and Watford leader Troy Deeney were the most vocal in airing their reservations on a conference call on Wednesday.

Chelsea occupy the final Champions League spot but are only three points ahead of Manchester United, while Watford and West Ham are level on 27 points with Bournemouth - in the relegation zone.

The resumption date could now be pushed back to June 19 and the majority of Premier League managers and players are believed to be frustrated by certain clubs said to be using their agenda to block any progress.
