Police reveal new tactic burglars are using to target homes in Salford

Police have issued break-in prevention advice following a spate of burglaries in Salford. Burglars have been using a tactic called lock snapping to target homes in Swinton and Little Hulton, according to officers.

The incidents first started in December 2019 and are still taking place now. Lock snapping sees the burglar snap the barrel of the lock.

Anti-snap locks can be purchased for £30 and are “worth considering” if you have locks that are vulnerable, officers have said.
