A man was left in hospital with a broken leg and head injuries after a collision in Bolton. Police were called to the scene in Higher Swan Lane at around 9pm on Saturday night, after reports of a collision involving a grey Nissan Micra and the pedestrian.

A 20-year-old man was rushed to hospital after the collision and remains there for treatment. But the driver of the offending vehicle fled the scene.

The car was later found abandoned and burnt out in Blackshaw Lane. The registration of the vehicle is believed to have been DY03 AXP, says Greater Manchester Police.

Higher Swan Lane was closed to the public for several hours while police conducted their investigations. Police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
