Perth and Kinross have been told they must take “personal responsibility” for wearing face coverings during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Perthshire Advertiser has been regularly contacted by concerned readers during the last few months to point out examples of people refusing to wear masks in shops and other busy indoor areas.

But most are told there is little the authorities can do.Not seeing family and friends ranked as the worst aspect of the lockdown Inspector Kerry Lynch, of Perth Police Station, has now told the Perthshire Advertiser that the police and other relevant authorities need buy-in from the public on the issue of face coverings if the country is to beat COVID-19.
