‘Outer Range’ Star Josh Brolin and EP Charles Murray on the Sci-Fi Western’s Wild Second Season — and Possible Future: ‘This Has Its Hook In Me’

Hunter Ingram SPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers from the entire second season of “Outer Range,” now streaming on Prime Video. “It makes all the sense in the world!” Forgive us for laughing, but that is the craziest thing someone could say about Prime Video’s “Outer Range,” a sci-fi western about a bottomless, time-traveling black hole on the Wyoming ranch of Royal Abbott (Josh Brolin). And yet, that’s what Royal’s nemesis Wayne Tillerson (Will Patton) proclaims right before he takes a swan dive into that hole in the Season 2 finale. It’s a legitimately hilarious moment, because — even for those who have been paying attention — “Outer Range” isn’t the easiest to follow.

Josh Brolin: Why I wanted ‘to be in the center’ of Will Smith slap fight
Oscara 2022 ceremony last month when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage. The 54-year-old actor explained why he wanted to be involved in the smackdown mess in a recent interview on Dax Shepard’s podcast “Armchair Expert.”“I was at the Oscars and I couldn’t stop pacing — because part of me wanted to be in the center of it,” Brolin said.“I wanna know who the f–k [is] at fault,” the “Avengers: Endgame” star continued. Alas, Brolin had to make due with getting groped — alongside his “Dune” co-star Jason Momoa — by Oscars host Regina Hall, 51, in a bit some critics later slammed as “sexist.”Meanwhile, podcast host Shepard, 47, went on to share a tale of a time when he saw an actor going on a wild rant on set, a situation which resonated with his guest.Brolin replied, “I’ve always thought that like especially coming from trauma – parental trauma, childhood trauma, whatever that is – kids will do one of two things, and it’s the same energy.”“They’ll either emulate it to try and understand why it was the way it was, or they’ll do the opposite, right, and they’ll live this kind of holy existence, that’s also totally unhealthy because it’s exactly the same energy,” the “Milk” actor said.Brolin also recently opened up about why he wasn’t cast as Batman in director Zack Snyder’s iteration of the DC hero.
