Pensioner turned up with Haribo sweets to meet 'father' of children he planned to abuse

A pensioner arranged to meet up with a 'dad' who claimed to be offering his two young daughters for sex. Phillip Scott, 68, spoke with the man on an online chat room, but didn't know he was actually an undercover police officer.

Scott, a former taxi driver, eventually met the man in person, arriving with bags of Haribo, which he was told was the older child's favourite sweets.

He was arrested at a Marks and Spencer café at the Manchester Fort retail park in Cheetham Hill following the meet up. His lawyer said Scott had become embroiled in an online 'fantasy world' after becoming socially isolated.
