New school to open in Bury for children with special educational needs

Bury for children with special educational needs and disabilities. The school is due to open in September 2022, after the government announced 35 new special free schools would be set up around the country.It will be run by the Shaw Education Trust, which already operates Unsworth Academy in the borough.

The trust is responsible for 11 specialist schools in Greater Manchester to Birmingham.The exact location of the new school in Bury is yet to be revealed.

Shaw Education Trust CEO, Jo Morgan, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Bury Council to provide pro-active support and appropriate provision for learners in the borough.
