Tim Dams British Academy of Film and Television Arts chair Krishnendu Majumdar has addressed the killing of George Floyd and the lack of diversity in BAFTA’s nominations process in his first communication with members since being appointed last week.In a powerful letter to BAFTA members, Majumdar said: “It is no longer acceptable to be just non-racist: BAFTA must be unequivocally and actively anti-racist.
Organizations can no longer stand back from societal issues.”BAFTA is currently carrying out a major review to help improve representation in its film awards – which is being led by Majumdar – after widespread criticism for their lack of diversity earlier this year.
