Bernie Sander

Bernard Sanders (born September 8, 1941) is an American politician who has served as the junior United States Senator from Vermont since 2007 and as U.S. Representative for the state's at-large congressional district from 1991 to 2007. He is the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, although he has a close relationship with the Democratic Party, having caucused with House and Senate Democrats for most of his congressional career. Sanders unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party nomination for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020.

Neutral Milk Hotel mastermind Jeff Mangum doesn’t make many public statements or appearances these days, but in a message shared by his wife Astra Taylor, he took a moment to endorse Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential candidacy. “hello my friends!

just writing to ask you to please vote for bernie.” Mangum last toured with Neutral Milk Hotel in 2015. While he hasn’t released new music in a long time, Mangum has long been outspoken about political causes.

Last year he was spotted at a New York City climate strike, and in 2011, he performed at Occupy Wall Street. Otherwise he’s been selling some drawings.
