Netflix is preparing to launch a cheaper subscription plan in the next couple of years. The streaming service’s co-CEO Reed Hastings has announced that the company is working on an ad-supported subscription plan to give an option to customers looking for more cost-effective plans.

Click inside to read more… “Those who have followed Netflix know that I have been against the complexity of advertising, and a big fan of the simplicity of subscription,” Hastings said during the company’s quarterly earnings call on Tuesday (April 19), according to THR. “But as much as I am a fan of that, I am a bigger fan of consumer choice.
And allowing consumers who would like to have a lower price, and are advertising-tolerant get what they want, makes a lot of sense.” He added, “It is pretty clear that it is working for Hulu, Disney is doing it, HBO did it.
We don’t have any doubt that it works.” THR also reported that the company is preparing on cutting down on password sharing and that the company views it as a “big opportunity” to turn around its fortunes.
