Loose Women presenter Nadia Sawalha has revealed she was "heading for an early death" due to her party-goer lifestyle, but it all changed when she welcomed her eldest daughter Maddy with her husband Mark Adderley.

Looking back on the time she became a mother for the first time on the How To Stay Married (So Far) podcast, Nadia, 57, admitted she and Mark weren't in the mindset of becoming parents when she fell pregnant. "We were a beautiful disaster, we were two quite broken people when I think about it,” the TV host said alongside her husband. "When you think about how much we used to drink, we used to think it was funny to lie in the road and see if we would get run over!" I lived out of a suitcase for years, I was always on the move, I would party hard, I smoked like a maniac. "I was heading to an early death, I really was.” The presenter - who still has her Christmas tree up - then shared that her life completely changed when she discovered she would be becoming a mum. "Maddy saved my life,” she said. “Because I was just looking at this baby and saying, ‘Right, who am I going to be?’” "That was literally my turning point in my life." It comes after the TV favourite gushed over her "incredible" partner ahead of his 17th sober Christmas in December.
