Mysterious '20ft' sinkhole appears in Kilmarnock playing field

Kilmarnock playing field today.The huge crater emerged at the playing fields near the Dean Park this morning.One eye-witness reckons the shaft is at least five feet across and another person on the scene reckoned the hole is around 20ft deep.Joanne Smith found the sinkhole this morning and says her dog was lucky not to fall into it.She told the Kilmarnock Standard: "I got the absolute fright of my life when I saw the thing."My Staffordshire bull terrier Blaze was off the lead and he was sniffing round about it when I saw it."I've never seen anything like that in my entire life."The 40-year-old dog walker was so worried that someone could be injured in the sinkhole that she called the police and the council.Luckily, a maintenance man arrived.
