Residents say they have been left waiting more than eight days for Manchester Council to remove piles of ‘unhygienic’ rubbish left by travellers camping in a Burnage field.

A large group of travellers were first seen setting up an encampment on Cringle Playing Fields, in south Manchester, towards the end of June.During their stay, which is believed to have lasted around two weeks, people were seen riding motorbikes through the grass, cutting down trees and dumping litter.Speaking to the M.E.N anonymously, one resident said they first saw the travellers on June 24.They claim the group hadn’t even properly set up camp before they began 'cutting down trees' and racing bikes across the field.Another resident, who uses the field to walk their.
