Uncompromising Wigan Warriors forward Morgan Smithies insists he has learnt his lessons from serving a lengthy ban last year.The homegrown star was banned for a total of six games following two separate incidents during a Super League win over Castleford Tigers last August.Smithies had already been suspended for two matches for headbutting, but was then banned for a further four games and fined £500 after pleading guilty to a charge of “dangerous contact” following a tackle on James Clare.The winger was carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital with Tigers boss Daryl Powell labelling the challenge “terrible” and a “crusher tackle”.Smithies, 20, made his first-team debut against Catalans Dragons in March 2019 and said: “I learnt a lot.
