Martin Lewis issues redundancy warning to furloughed workers

Coronavirus Job Rentention Scheme begins to be wound down, 'uncertainty' may lead to redundancy in the coming weeks or months.The furlough scheme, which has so far covered the wages of 8.4 million staff unable to work during lockdown at a cost of around £15 billion, is set to be changed in July after Chancellor Rishi Sunak confirmed it would be "wound down".Martin said on Monday's This Morning: "The scheme has indeed been extended until October, but while employees must still receive at least 80 percent of their salary, from August employers will be asked to start to pay - at first just covering national insurance and pension contribution costs."But each month more is added, until by October - the final month of furlough - they pay 20.
