Manipulator who conned a woman out of £50,000 has been banned from the care sector

A rogue home carer has been kicked out of the industry after preying on vulnerable women . . . and borrowing nearly £50,000 from one of them.The vile leech worked in the Paisley area for years as a recovery support worker, caring for people in their own homes.But the identity and even the sex of the person is being kept secret by the government regulator.Don't miss the latest headlines from around Renfrewshire.

Sign up to our newsletters here.The astonishing deceit was revealed by the Scottish Social Services Council which ruled the only way to maintain public confidence in the sector was to remove their ability to work as a carer.The damning investigation found the carer would go into client's home and bleat about their financial troubles.One woman become “overwhelmed” after supplying the carer with food and clothes.Personal details were discussed with another two clients.But one woman in Paisley was preyed on for cash between January 2018 and February last year.The total ran to £48,205 and the rogue carer said it would be paid back.

Only £4,500 was ever returned to the victim.Lorraine Wakefield, of the Scottish Scottish Services Council, said they could not say why the carer’s name has been kept secret.She said: “We may redact information for a variety of reasons, for example to protect the identity of people who use services or their carers, protect any person connected with the case, protect the worker who may be vulnerable due to their health, to protect the family and, in particular the children, of a worker or comply with a legal obligation.”The carer was removed from the Register of Supervisors in a Care at Home Service on Janaury 1, meaning they can no longer work in the field.The lady who lost all the money -
