Manchester United's treatment of Jesse Lingard slammed as Newcastle transfer hangs in the balance

The attacking-midfielder, who is out-of-contract in the summer, is a target for Newcastle United and they have been in discussions with United in the last few days about the possibility of signing him on loan for the remainder of the season.
Despite Lingard being prepared to join the Magpies, who are looking to avoid relegation this season, United have played hard ball over the financial package that Newcastle will have to pay to complete the deal, although the Manchester Evening News understands that there are no issues relating to the player's wages or the loan fee itself.
But with United coming under more and more pressure to find a temporary home for Lingard ahead of the transfer window closing on Monday evening, former Hammers striker Cole has slammed the club for their treatment of the England international, who is set to leave the club permanently once his contract expires in June. "I think it's bang out of order that Man United are doing this to him," Cole told talkSPORT. "That's not Lingard's value.
