Manchester Gay Village bar will not be opening later on weekday mornings after all due to to 'intolerable noise level' fears

A bid by a Manchester Gay Village bar to open later on weekday mornings has been rejected after residents living above the premises raised noise nuisance concerns.

Eva had wanted a licence to stay open an extra hour until 5am from Sundays to Thursdays to remain competitive with other late-night venues on Sackville Street.

The licensee of the karaoke bar also sought permission for alcohol to be sold, and live and recorded music played, later than the 3am cut-off already agreed with Manchester council.

There were no plans to open later than 6.30am on Fridays and Saturdays, which is also permitted by the current licence. But a licensing hearing was told that the ‘excessive’ weekday proposals would have a ‘detrimental impact’ on people living
