Man who fell onto train tracks in early hours ordered to pay £400 compensation after services brought to standstill for 40 mins

Longsight. When police arrived they spotted him on the wrong side of the railings before he fell from the bridge and landed on the tracks, Manchester Magistrates' Court heard.

Campbell jumped up and ran away, before falling over.Officers tried to restrain him, but he struggled. Police called for backup and Campbell was carried away.He pleaded guilty to obstructing a carriage or engine using the railway by an unlawful act.

The prosecution and defence agreed there was no evidence Campbell had thrown stones.Campbell, of Albert Grove, Longsight, was handed a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £400 in compensation.Prosecutor Zak Azim earlier told the court the incident happend at around 2.30am on May 12.
