WHEN winter is upon us, many people are inclined to snuggle down on the couch and hibernate until warmer weather arrives. However, it’s the perfect time to grab a bargain if, like me, you love exploring Scotland.
VisitScotland are offering up to 50% off many tours, attractions and experiences. If your New Year’s resolution was to “do more stuff ”, and with the school mid-term break not far off, then here’s some inspiration with a few places I’ve really enjoyed.
First on my list is the Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig – just seven miles from Aviemore. Animal lovers of all ages will adore this wonderful sprawling park set in stunning wild countryside in the Cairngorms National Park.I loved the woodland walk and catching up with some of the keepers for their daily feeding sessions.
I listened to their chat about the polar bears and left with knowledge which has never left me. Polar bear skin is black underneath their white coats, and they can sniff their dinner more than half a mile away, did you know?Next on my list has a completely different feel - Culloden Battlefield, near Inverness.
