Married at First Sight UK fans were fuming while watching Wednesday 21 September's episode. The episode mostly consisted of commitment ceremonies, with troubled couple Duka and Whitney talking through their ups, but mostly their downs, over the week.
However, many fans were not happy with the way Paul C Brunson appeared to "blame" Duka for their problems. Paul raised the issue of Duka being vulnerable and emotional with Whitney to show him the real him. "She needs to know how you’re feeling, because unless she knows how you’re feeling, you appear fake.
I need you to show some emotion," he said firmly. Whitney was quick to agree: "I think Paul hit the nail on the head. I can't connect to something that isn't real, that isn't genuine." Paul also made an analysis of how Whitney was feeling towards the marriage, commenting: "I can see you have no fight in you." While Duka decided to stay, saying he wanted to "have that chance to be vulnerable", it wasn't the case for Whitney.
Ahead of the decision to stay or leave, Whitney explained: "I don't know what else I can do. I still want to remain Whitney, and I don't know that I am anymore, I'm giving over but I don't know what's being given to me, so I wrote leave." Fans took to Twitter to talk about their anger and frustration over Paul's treatment of the situation, claiming he was solely blaming Duka for the breakdown of the relationship rather than acknowledging Whitney's behaviour.
