Lewis Ferguson set for new Bologna deal amid transfer interest from Man United and Serie A heavyweights

The 25-year-old has been nothing short of a revelation in Serie A since joining I Rossoblù from Aberdeen in a £3million deal in July 2022, and was named as the league's midfield player of the year last season after overtaking the legendary Denis Law as the top-scoring Scottish player ever in the Italian top-flight.Ferguson has already attracted the interest of Serie A heavyweights Juventus, AC Milan and Napoli while Manchester United are also said to be keeping tabs on the former Hamilton Accies youngster.
The Bologna skipper - who has netted 13 times in 66 matches for the club - played a pivotal role in his side's push to claim a Champions League spot for the first time in 60 years last season, only to suffer a serious knee injury towards the end of the campaign that ruled him out of Euro 2024 with Scotland.The player himself has recently revealed that he is hoping to make his return to action in the next two months, with Bologna gearing up for some mega European clashes against the likes of Liverpool, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund.
And according to Il Corriere dello Sport, Ferguson's agent Bill McMurdo will now meet with bosses at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara to discuss a new deal.Ferguson still has three years left on his current contract but the report adds that Bologna's technical director Giovanni Sartori is keen to tie him down until 2029 in a bid to fend off the midfielder's list of suitors.
