Katie Piper has shared the terrifying news that she was rushed to hospital for an emergency procedure after choking on some food on Monday 4 October.The 37 year old, who recently launched a beauty box with OK!, took to her Instagram feed to inform her 1 million followers about the ordeal after sharing a snap of herself in a hospital gown.

In the caption, she wrote: "SO, last night I choked on some food which led to spasms in my oesophagus, which meant it closed up, meaning I couldn’t swallow even my own saliva and ended up in A&E for an emergency procedure on my oesophagus (not the way to start a week).
