ITV journalist Gary Burgess passed away peacefully on New Year's Day after battling cancer. The award-winning reporter had documented his journey with the disease after receiving a terminal diagnosis in 2020.
His cancer had spread to his lungs, with doctors deeming the tumours they found inoperable. He died at Jersey Hospice on January 1, the Mirror reports.
In a final message he wrote to be released after his death and published by ITV, Gary said: "I've had the best life. I've had the luckiest life.
