Islay's eleventh whisky distillery given green light as local council agree to plans

whisky distillery after plans for its design were given the green light by the local council.The Argyll & Bute council planning committee has granted permission to Elixir Distillers to build its much anticipated new distillery.Already home to some of Scotland's top distilleries, plans for Elixir Distillers' new site on the island were first announced in 2018.The spirits company's co-founders Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh say they have taken a big leap forward towards their dream of building a distillery on the island.The as-yet-unnamed distillery will be built near Port Ellen at Farkin on the island’s south coast, and will follow in the footsteps of Islay's current youngest distillery Ardnahoe and the soon to be revived Port Ellen distillery.
