Plans to restart the Premier League season may become clearer on Friday as the 20 clubs again meet to discuss the response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The season has been suspended since March 13 and an initial shutdown until April 3 has already been pushed back until the end of the month.

When the clubs and the league meet via conference call on Friday that date is likely to be pushed back further still, with the UK still in the grip of a rising death toll and the country in lockdown as the battle against COVID-19 intensifies.

That makes setting a return date difficult but the Premier League will reaffirm their stance that they want to complete the 2019/20 season, a stance that is still backed by the majority of clubs.
