New data has shown that nearly £15 million has been spent on the House of Lords in the last year - almost £700 per debate contribution.A total of £14.92m was spent by taxpayers on peers, which included allowances and expenses, according to analysis conducted by the House of Commons library.While, between August 2020 and July 2021 the daily allowance claimed by peers hit £13.2m.In that same time period there were 22,140 speeches by peers in the upper chamber which works out at £596 per contribution in allowance claims.In total £14.92m was claimed by unelected representative, which is £674 per contribution.The SNP, which has always been opposed to the Lords, has called the spending a waste of money and said the Lords should be abolished.The
