Jarvis Cocker released his last album as frontman of seminal Brtipop outfit Pulp -- effectively ending his time as an explicitly mainstream figure -- he's managed to remain one of rock's most compelling and singular figures in the decades since.A pair of late-'00s albums on his own proved that his economically wry songwriting and winkingly debonair performance translated to a solo context, and produced an enduring protest anthem in "Running the World." Side project Relaxed Muscle, with Jason Buckle of All Seeing I, saw Cocker thrive in an electronic framework, while the 2017 hotel-themed concept LP Room 29 with pianist Chilly Gonzales successfully recast him as a theatrical lounge act.
