The Strokes‘ comeback album, The New Abnormal, features cover art that might be familiar to Jean-Michel Basquiat fans. It contains a portion of the late artist’s 1981 painting, Birds on Money.

Basquiat created the painting as a tribute to jazz musician Charlie Parker. In Birds on Money, Parker is portrayed as yardbird (or chicken), which was the saxophonist’s nickname.

Birds on Money isn’t Basquiat’s only tribute to Parker. The New York City painter also paid homage to Parker in paintings such as Charles the First and CPRKR.

Basquiat’s love for music was well known. He even formed a noise rock band originally called Test Pattern before being renamed to Gray.
