Helensburgh shoppers face a wait for new Morrisons as Waitrose closes doors

Shoppers in Helensburgh are set to be without a major supermarket for over a month, after the town’s Waitrose closed its doors.The Cardross Road store, which only opened in 2013 after a lengthy planning battle, announced earlier this year that it was to close - potentially leaving 120 employees out of work.Supermarket giant Morrisons then revealed that they would be moving into the site opposite Hermitage Academy, however they won’t be given access to the unit until June 1.And that has led to calls from Labour MSP Jackie Baillie for the new owners to ensure they are up and running as soon as possible.Jackie said: “I am disappointed that, given the extraordinary circumstances that we are currently living in, Waitrose will now take a month to
