Gregg Wallace and Cliff Parisi break down in tears over bakewell tart on Celebrity MasterChef

MASTERCHEF judge Gregg Wallace fought back tears tonight over Cliff Parisi’s bakewell tart. The pair become very emotional as the sweet treat brought back memories of their grandparents.

Cliff – best known for playing Minty in EastEnders - decided to make the tart as a tribute to his grandad, who he said was an excellent baker and always showed up with something tasty.

Gregg had similar memories of growing up with his grandparents in Peckham and eating the tart. As he tucked into it, Gregg told Cliff: "I was fortunate enough to live downstairs from my nan and grandad, we used to go to Peckham Rye with them every Saturday and they would buy me a cake. "This is an old memory, it’s lovely, it’s absolutely lovely.

And that jam is like bubble gum in a cake and it’s absolutely delicious."
