Greater Manchester councils to get more cash from government to help with impact of Covid

A total of 23 councils in the north west will get £9.2m between them over Easter in the latest tranche of covid winter impact payments.

The scheme was designed to help thousands of vulnerable children stay ‘warm and well-fed’ Work and Pensions Secretary Thérèse Coffey said.

The Covid Winter Grant Scheme, which was introduced in response to the pandemic, gives money to councils to distribute to vulnerable families for food and essential utility bills.
